Installation,
Sight, Sound and Infatuation
This city is a place where haphazard overlap of architectural trends has depleted the last remaining vegetation. This has plunged us into a sheer chaos over the last two decades. Yet amidst this claustrophobic joke, where life is a flicker of hope against despair, appears in our everyday reality. Unplanned development, speedy construction, demolition, poverty have their implication on our collective humanism, leading to discrepancy at all levels. In my installation, I have tried to point out how urbanisation has pushed nature to the margin. The way I have used charcoal on metal mesh alludes to the city's darkness and its precarious condition, which is legible in the insertion of hundreds of metal pins into the canvas from behind. An illusion has been created by clinging on to this, one which is a defines against despair, creating the image of hope every moment.
